The Australians proved why they are the number one team in the world yesterday. They beat the West Indies by 95 runs to lead the series by 1-0. It was the final day of the test match at Jamaica and the match was evenly poised with West Indies requiring 241 to win with 9 wickets in hand. The first session saw new ball bowlers Clark and Lee bowling an immaculate line and length not letting off the Carribeans to a good start. Clark got rid of Sarwan and then Smith to leave the West Indies at 60 for 3. Lee joined in the party when he picked up Morton and Chanderpaul in quick succession. West Indies never were allowed to score freely. They were 82 for 6. Then came a defiant partnership between Ramdin and Saamy. They added 50 runs and just when they thought that a fightback was on the cards, McGill came up with a brilliant run out to send back Ramdin for 36. The West Indies tail wagged a bit but it was not enough. They were bundled out for a mere 191, giving a 95 run victory to the visitors. Clark picked up his 5 wicket haul and was named the man of the match. The next match starts on Friday the 30th of May.
