After the controversial series with India Aussies have had a break. They are playing after 4 to 5 months. They are currently touring the West Indies and the first test started yesterday. Both teams had injury problems in leading to the game. Hayden from Australia and Jerome Taylor were the ones to miss out. Australia won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. The most prolific run scorer of the Pura Cup Katich was the first to depart caught at gully of the bowling of Taylor. Taylor then went on to get his second victim when he trapped opener Jaques for 9. Hussey joined in Ponting when the score was 37 for 2. Ponting played aggressively while Hussey played the second fiddle. Australia were 87 for 2 at Lunch.
The post lunch session saw both Hussey and Ponting getting their half centuries. Hussey departed for a score of 56, caught brilliantly by Bravo of the bowling of Juggernauth only to give him his first international wicket. Ponting quickly moved to 96 as Aussies were 189 for 3 at tea.
Ponting went on to score his 35th ton in the post tea session. He went past Sunil Gavaskar and Brian Lara in the number of centuries, to be second only to the little master Sachin Tendulkar who is on 39. Ponting and Hodge played sensibly and pushed the score past 250. Ponting departed to a brilliant catch by Parchment to give Bravo his first wicket of the match. Ponting was out for a score of 158 which was a great knock considering the form he was in. Hodge and night watchman Johnson safely evaded the overs to finish on 301 for 4 at stumps.
