Mathew Hayden, the opener of Australia has been successful in recent games. He along with Ponting has been the prolific scorers for Australia both in the Tests and in the ODI's. Hayden couldn't play the first Test against West Indies due to a lingering achilles injury. It is bad news that Hayden hasn't recovered in time and has left for Australia. There is however some good news for Australia as Clarke will join the team for the second test. He is likely to replace Hodge in the middle order while Katich will get one more chance to open.
